Hull High Badge

Hull High School Class of ’61 Class Reunion, June 18, 2006.

Dear Friends,

First of all, Ruth Bates is on the road to recovery from her stroke. Vivian Charron Behnke tells me today that Ruth is walking and eating, and that her blood pressure is now under control.

Ruth's home address is P.O.Box 843, Cardinal, Ontario, K0E 1E0, and you can send a get well card to this address.

I have heard from many of you that you had a great time at the Hull High School Reunion, June 18, either at Golf or Dinner or both events, and that you want to do it again, and soon, in about another two years. So, we had 11 persons / three foursomes for Golf. The weather co-operated, though it was hot and humid, and there was a nice breeze to take the edge off the humidity. We had a nice refreshing beer in the club house afterwards. At least four of us will get together to play the Kingsway Park course again in late September when the place looks gorgeous in the reds and and greens on the escarpment backdrop. If you want to play with us in September, please let me know.

The Dinner at the Canal Ritz was great. The food at this restaurant is always superb. We have held three reunion dinners there to date, and the food and the service are always ten out of ten. I had a smoked salmon pizza.....delicious. Everyone seemed to enjoy the social mixing, and we seemed to fill the aisles on all four sides! I liked the rock and roll music, particularly Buddy Holly, and hope the rest of you could hear it.

It was good to find Margaret Fraser after all these many years. Rick Kohler was in from OX with Edwina, and brought along his brother and sister, Kerry and Michelle. Barbara French Bowman was in from Calgary. There were many classmates from other years at Hull High School. And Mrs. Burdent was there too!!! How many of us graduated with a credit in Typing? There was enthusiastic talk at the dinner to hold another reunion "soon", perhaps in another two years. Many liked the present location, but some wished for a larger location which would permit more social mixing, such as Capone's. Some of these alternative places do not take separate cheques; they require a master contract, and one person has to sign and pay the bill, and this requires pre-payment when you sign up to attend the event. Other possible venues could include dinner on a boat on the Ottawa River. Or golf and dinner at a local golf club. I would like to hear suggestions from you.

Some of you had fun with the Trivia Quiz. I have updated it to 100 questions and am attaching a copy. It is intended for a group of people to work on as a fun event. No one person would have all the answers, but a group should have a lot of success and fun.

Please do provide copies of your photos from the reunion to Micki Kaminska at MickiK44@Hotmail.com and she will add them to the web site and will advise us when this has been done.

So, Action Items:

1. Golf in September at Kingsway Park? Let me know if you are interested.

2. What are your suggestions for a "next" reunion event, and location?

3. Send photos to Micki Kaminska for the web site.

Many thanks to all those who assisted with this year's Hull High School Reunion, including Bob Hughes, Skip Lebrun, Roy and Barbara Reid, Frans Van Der Greft, June Carnahan Brace, and Vivian Charron Behnke.

Cheers!

Philippe.
